New project

I wanted to update you all (all, like, 20 of you… ok it’s more than that but yeah haha) on a new project I started working on this weekend. Without going into details of why or when, I’m making a new site focusing on food found through any and all means in the central Indiana//Indianapolis area. This means restaurants, diners, shacks, food trucks, roadside stands, and also grocery stores, farmers markets, and gardens and then cooked in my own and others’ kitchens. It always has bothered me when people trash my city and say that you can’t find good food in Indiana. I plan on changing that idea. It’s there, you just don’t know where to look or are unwilling to make it yourself. I also plan on having a “road trip” section for other midwest spots that are within driving distance and worth it, and a “vacation spot” section for amazing, incredible, need-to-eat-at before you die spots not anywhere close to being driving distance from Indy.

Also, I’m not just making the site - I’m building it. I’m going to use Drupal, a CMS used on quite a few sites, that happens to be open source and incredibly powerful. It’s also pretty complex. But not more complex than the CMS I already know for my job, Kentico. So then I’ll know 2 CMS’s. You know what that means? I’m a nerd, and I’m awesome. But first, I have to learn it. That’s what I’m doing now.

I’ll keep you all updated. I have some pretty awesome ideas in mind. Some might be too ambitious. We will see! That’s half the fun - trying to get the computer to do something that is not physically possible! Because, the best part is, even if it’s not possible, I can usually get it to do it anyway… wuhaha.

One problem… I have a hard time coming up with a title that incorporates eating out, eating in, and cooking, and Indiana, and isn’t corny or a play off a Food Network show and doesn’t focus on me (I hate that… this isn’t about me). Best idea so far? Nom Nom, Indiana. (Yes, I laughed). But yeah… no. Any ideas?
